Zoom AI Companion

July 2025

Zoom has enabled the AI companion feature within the University of Miami Zoom tenant. You can expect to see AI Companion throughout the Zoom platform, with features available for products including Meetings, Team Chat, and more.

How to enable or disable Zoom AI Companion features:

You can control AI Companion features in the Zoom web portal (zoom.miami.edu). To get started, follow the step-by-step instructions below:

  • Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  • In the navigation menu, click Settings.
  • Within the AI Companion tab, click the toggle next to a feature to enable or disable it.

Notes: Some AI Companion features are only available at the account administrator level. If a feature is grayed out, it has been locked at the account administrator level.

How to use AI Companion features in Zoom products:

Meeting Summary

During a live meeting, the host can enable Meeting summary to create a summary of the meeting from the time it's enabled. The summary is automatically shared with the host and can be shared with other participants by email and through Team Chat, if continuous meeting chat is available for the meeting.

In-Meeting Questions

With AI Companion questions enabled, AI Companion can also answer questions about the meeting, including the option to summarize the meeting thus far or ask specific questions.

Smart Recording

With Smart Recording enabled, cloud recordings are automatically organized into chapters and highlights are generated, which can be shared and seen by others.

Chat Compose

Use AI Companion to compose messages by using context from your conversation, as well as adjusting tone, providing topic prompts, or changing the length of the message to give you confidence in what you’re communicating.

Thread Summary

AI Companion can also help summarize chat threads, quickly catching you up on long discussions in chat while you were focused elsewhere.

Quick Schedule

Chatting with colleagues about scheduling a meeting to discuss further? Let AI Companion help schedule a meeting for you directly from that chat discussion.

Sentence Completion

Write messages more efficiently by allowing AI Companion to suggest words to complete your sentence, tapping Tab to quickly accept the suggestions.

Content Generation

Based on the prompt provided or the content already available, let AI Companion generate content for your Whiteboard.
