For those on campus during this time, we wanted to make you aware that the following services will be unavailable:

  • Access to student housing rooms via the MobileID application (students will need to use their 'Cane Card instead)
  • Access to 'Cane Express, guest funds, dining dollars, and mobile readers at Vicky Café, Pura Vida, Starbucks, and Subway (students will need to use credit cards or cash during the maintenance window)

Please be advised that the University's 'Cane Card system (CS Gold) at the Coral Gables and Marine campuses will undergo an upgrade to improve stability, minimize downtime, and support future functionality starting Friday, March 8 at 8 p.m. through Sunday, March 10 at 8 p.m.

'Cane Card access to all buildings and student housing across campus will remain operational while the upgrade is taking place. In addition, meal plans at on-campus dining locations will continue to be accessible.

However, for those on campus during this time, some services may be unavailable:

  • Access to student housing rooms via the MobileID application (students will need to use their 'Cane Card instead).
  • On-campus vending machines (credit cards or cash will be required during the maintenance window).
  • Adding 'Cane Express funds, viewing balances, and/or reporting lost cards via the GET app.
  • Printing and/or re-issuing of 'Cane Cards.

Please be advised that phone users across the U.S. are experiencing widespread cellular network outages affecting major service providers, including AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. IT is monitoring this developing situation, and recommends using Wi-Fi calling on cell phones in the meantime.

Due to the nation-wide outage, users may experience issues receiving a Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) passcode via SMS text. In order to receive the Duo code, please ensure that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. If you are on campus, and your device is not set up to a join a wireless network, please join CanesGuest.

If you need assistance setting up your mobile device for Wi-Fi calling, please visit the Student Technology Help Desk located at 325 Ritcher Library on the Coral Gables campus.

Please be advised that the campus access control application, CS Gold, at the Coral Gables and Marine campuses will undergo a software upgrade on Saturday, September 30 from 3:30-7 a.m. 'Cane Card access to all buildings, student housing, and card readers across campus will remain operational while the upgrade is taking place.

For those on campus during this time, we wanted to make you aware that the following services will be unavailable:

  • Access to student housing rooms via the MobileID application (students will need to use their 'Cane Card instead)
  • Access to 'Cane Express, guest funds, dining dollars, and mobile readers at Vicky Café, Pura Vida, Starbucks, and Subway (students will need to use credit cards or cash during the upgrade)
  • Printing of new 'Cane Cards

Please be advised that Duo has reported issues with Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). During this time, you may experience issues with SMS text passcode delivery to some cell phone carriers, most prominently AT&T. To authenticate via Duo MFA at this time, please use the Duo mobile app (available via Google Play or App Store) to generate a passcode.

  • 1) At the CaneID login screen, enter your University of Miami credentials and click Sign In.
  • 2) The Duo authentication screen appears, requesting a passcode.
  • 3) Launch the Duo mobile app on your device (smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, etc.) and click Show to reveal the 6-digit passcode that will be needed to gain access.
  • 4) Type the passcode in the passcode field and click Log In.

Note: Passcodes via the Duo mobile app are only good for one use. Once a passcode has been used to authenticate, it is expired and cannot be used again. Refresh the passcode on the Duo mobile app to obtain a new one.
