Through our ongoing monitoring of cybersecurity trends, we have seen a concerning increase in social engineering attacks directed at members of higher education and healthcare communities. These social engineering attacks focus on manipulating human psychology rather than technical weaknesses to deceive individuals and gain access to their computers or user account information. Locally, recent incidents have shown that even those who are well-versed in technology, like many of us, can fall victim to these scams due to their ever-changing tactics and increasing sophistication.
