What's Being Migrated:

Some courses have already been migrated, with full semesters in progress

  • 2024–2026: Course materials are being moved into Canvas.
  • 2021–2027: Course resources, enrollment data, and grade records are being archived from Blackboard for grading and record-keeping.

How the Migration Works:

To support a smooth transition, we:

  • Evaluated representative courses in different scenarios.
  • Performed internal quality reviews.
  • Worked with Canvas and K-16 to resolve any issues identified.
  • Finalized the import of courses into Canvas.

How Can I See Migrated Courses?

Access your migrated course content in Canvas!

  • Sign in at canvas.miami.edu with your University of Miami credentials.
  • Once signed in to Canvas, select Courses and then All Courses.
    • Migrated courses are clearly marked as "migrated" in both the course ID and name.

Please note:

  • You can modify course material or copy it into your active course shell and make changes as needed.
  • Review guidance on items that migrate automatically and those that require manual transfer.
  • To view 2025-2026 courses, access Pages, then Migration Log to review any errors noted.

What Happens After the Migration?

K-16 automatically moves 2025-2026 courses with a high success rate of 90–100%, maintaining aspects such as course structure, quizzes, and question pools.

Canvas' migration service transfers 2024 courses in batches using its standard import tool, achieving a 70–80% success rate, though some manual correction or adjustment may be necessary.

Possible Manual Post-Migration Changes:

This section details the expected state of a course item after transfer. In most cases, the course items may fall into one of three buckets:
Expected to work,  Might need adjustment, or  Will require manual fixing.
