New Warning Banner on Emails from External Senders

In response to the increasing number of phishing attacks on the University of Miami, we are now including a warning banner on emails originating from outside miami.edu alerting the recipient to verify the authenticity of the sender before responding, clicking embedded links, or opening attachments.

This is intended as a precaution to protect both the individual recipient of external emails, and the University as a whole, since malware can spread quickly and infect the entire network.

For reference, please see a sample of the warning banner below:

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the UMIT Service Desk at: (305) 284-6565 or help@miami.edu.

Thank you.
