IT Strategy, Talent, and Change Management

The office of IT Strategy, Talent, and Change Management (STCM) provides vision and leadership to effectively integrate technology into the operations of the University. This unit leads efforts to develop, implement, and communicate services-based strategies that utilize technology. IT STCM works closely with University information technology leadership and the University community to shape and implement key IT investments, and to plan strategies aligned with the University's strategic plan, as well as student, employee, and faculty needs.

Change Management and User Adoption

  • The Change Management unit focused on the people side of any IT system change initiative or project. They provide change management services to all IT-related projects, which include change management strategies, communication, and training on new and revised system functionality. The team assists project leadership and the University community through all phases of change management, e.g., planning, awareness, understanding, and acceptance.

Communications

  • The Communications team develops, implements, and manages all UMIT organization and major project-related internal and external communications, strategies, and plans to ensure key messages are effectively shared with all audiences, as well as the branding and visual identity program. This team develops and creates editorial and creative content for IT-related publications and communications, including newsletters, memos, FAQs, talking points, presentations, etc., and manages marketing materials and content development for communications purposes, including videos, websites, posters, etc. Communications also supports IT team engagement activities and is instrumental in working with UMIT leadership in recognizing individual and team accomplishments.

IT Learning Initiatives

  • The IT Learning Initiatives team develops competency-based programs to retain and renew our UMIT talent in areas of need identified by the rapidly evolving landscape of information technology and the needs of the University of Miami. The goal is to continuously develop the UMIT workforce while promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruitment, retention, and training.     

IT Solutions

  • The IT Solutions team is responsible to build new, or revise, existing IT services to improve operating efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity. Assigned by UMIT Leadership to specific information technology related projects across the University, they consult with clients and liaison with IT units to develop a new IT service or revise existing services to meet client needs.

Strategic Initiatives

  • The Strategic Initiatives unit ensures the IT Strategic plan aligns with the institutional priorities outlined in The Roadmap to Our New Century and the IT areas of focus. The overarching objective of the IT strategic plan will be to leverage technology to improve or transform the student, faculty, and staff experience. Overseeing and documenting an actionable plan that takes into account the rapidly changing technology landscape and University needs is the focus of this area.
