Class Descriptions

  • Introduction to HTML

    This one-hour course assumes no prior experience with HTML (Hyper-Text Markup Language). Class topics will include key terms and concepts, tags, titles, formatting features, and a basic introduction to writing a web page. At the end of the course, students will have the knowledge needed to create, edit, and publish their own personal web pages.

  • Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007

    This class will introduce users to the fundamental basics of Microsoft Word and document processing. Through the course of the class, students will be introduced to a variety of features of the program to create professional reports, papers, letters, etc. with ease. Topics to be covered include basic formatting, paragraphs, creating tables, inserting clip art and images, creating outlines, working with columns, and creating and using templates.

  • Microsoft Word 2007: Tools for Formal Writing

    This class will introduce users to the specialized functions of Microsoft Word 2007 that can be utilized to format formal documents. The class introduces students to the new reference features of Microsoft Word. Topics include adding and editing footnotes, creating a table of contents, adding indexes and citations, and creating bibliographies based on different formal styles. Reviewing documents and proofreading functions will be briefly covered.

  • Microsoft Word 2007: Informal Publications

    This class will introduce users to the specialized functions of Microsoft Word 2007 that can be utilized to format informal publications. The class introduces students to the new style and theme features of Microsoft Word. Topics include creating eye-catching flyers, informative newsletters, working with images, editing page backgrounds, and formatting resumes. Reviewing documents and proofreading functions will be briefly covered.

  • Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2007

    This class will introduce users to the fundamental basics of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet capabilities. Through the course of the class, students will gain an understanding of the basics of the program and how it can be used efficiently. Topics to be covered include basic cell formatting, inserting tables and texts, working with symbols, objects, clip art and using multiple spreadsheets in your Microsoft workbook.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel 2007

    This advanced level of the Microsoft Excel 2007 class focuses on the more intricate concepts and tools used through Microsoft Excel. The course will review the topics covered in the Introduction to Microsoft Excel class. It will also introduce students to conditional formatting, workbook options, higher order data entry, and introduce the graphing and formula functions of Microsoft Excel 2007.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel 2007: Formulas

    This advanced level of Microsoft Excel 2007 class focuses on the formula functions offered by the Microsoft Excel 2007 application. Throughout the course of the class, students will gain an understanding of the basic formula functions. Topics will include utilizing the formula library, inserting functions, formula auditing, and calculations. Extracting and importing data to external sources will also be covered.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel 2007: Graphs

    This advanced level of Microsoft Excel 2007 class focuses on the graphing functions offered by the Microsoft Excel 2007 application. Throughout the course of the class, students will gain an understanding of the basic graphing functions. Topics will include utilizing the styles and formats offered by the application.

  • Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2007

    This class will introduce users to the fundamental basics of Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and creating a presentation. Through the course of the class, students will focus on creating on-screen multimedia slideshow presentations. Topics to be covered while creating a basic presentation include slide layouts and formatting, editing and design tools, inserting images, printing options, and text formatting.

  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint 2007

    This advanced level of the Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 class focuses on the more intricate concepts and tools used to create professional looking presentations. The course will review the topics covered in the Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint class. It will also introduce students to slide animations and transitions, adding illustrations, media clips and links as well as editing comments and markups.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS

    This class will introduce users to the fundamental basics of Adobe Photoshop CS. Through the course of the class, students will focus on getting accustomed to the elementary functions of Photoshop and efficient image manipulation. Topics to be covered during class will be: working with the PS toolbar, layering and selections; along with the process of filtering images to various exposures.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS Series

    This class will introduce users to the more intricate uses of Photoshop, with emphasis on layers and texturing with project based teaching. Prior experience with Photoshop would be helpful, thus we recommend taking our Intro to Photoshop course before signing up for the series.

    These classes shall be split into three one hour sessions that shall meet once a week on the planned dates:

    • Series I: Creating simple Illustrations
    • Series II: Magazine & Airbrush Effects
    • Series III: Textures and Add-Ins
